Behavioral Therapy
Behavioral Therapy
In behavioral therapy, parents and children learn to promote desirable behaviors and reduce unwanted behaviors. One common trap that families fall into is unintentionally rewarding the wrong behavior. We use a broad range of techniques to help parents identify the functions of negative behaviors and make plans to teach positive replacement behaviors. We utilize the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in combination with other research based interventions to help children with disabilities and their families overcome behavioral challenges. Our clients have shown great progress when implementing learned positive behavioral supports including token economies, video modeling, self-directed reward systems, social stories and social coaching, planned faded prompting, visual cues, and self-regulatory strategies.
We work with children with a variety of disabilities, including Autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, and specific learning disabilities; offering a family centered, strengths-based approach to behavioral therapy. We offer parent training and individualized behavior plans for use in home, school, and community settings. Our goal is to partner with and empower parents to play an active role in positively shaping their childs’ behavior.
