Music Therapy

Music Therapy

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music therapy provides pleasurable learning that promotes success! Songs, movements, instrument playing, and/or songwriting are used to target skills children need for the classroom and the world around them.

Children participate at their own level and move forward as skills increase. Goals are based on each child’s individual needs and songs can be sent home to reinforce skills. All the while, getting the brain boost that music offers!

Music Therapy

Music therapists are trained to make up original songs and activities to address specific goals. Children often help in the development and rhythm of these songs promoting confidence and success.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

Music therapy supports social language skills and provides an effective way to engage your kids and teach them social and emotional skills. Recent studies have shown that these types of skills aid in boosting academic performance, while improving problem-solving and decision-making, and reducing conduct problems and emotional issues.

Music therapy increases phonological development in children through songs that include repetition. These songs and activities allow children to get extra practice with hearing and singing sounds, words, and phrases.

ACADEMIC BOOST

Music therapy promotes academic skills and research supports music, speech, motor behavior, and memory language acquisition. Music therapy helps children become more attentive in classroom settings and show more involvement with their peers. It is helpful to support memory skills for students with working memory issues, especially when it comes to subjects like math.
